Ice Dragons are back from their most successful Nationals ever!
The mighty Ice Dragons have just returned from the 2009 AusDBF Nationals in Caloundra, Queensland, with a swag full of medals, boasting their most successful nationals campaign ever! Ice Dragons Opens, Womens and Mixed crews qualified for the 2010 World Championships.

Ice Dragons finished 2nd in the Premier Championship and 3rd in the Australian Club Championship, despite not entering teams in Masters, Grand Masters or Junior categories.

Many thanks for the efforts of the commitee and op's group and all competitors who made it a truly memorable trip! Next up....CHINA!!!

STOP PRESS: The Ice Dragons have achieved another claim to fame during their 2009 China tour. In the words of Vice Captain Ali, " The cameras can't seem to get enough of the IDs!"

(A rough translation: "Twenty-two different clubs are competing, of which twelve are from overseas and the rest from China. They arrived in Zhuhai yesterday and were filmed practising for the racing".)

Ice Dragons take out ferry interrupted 2000m to cap off the season
In final prep for Nationals the crews took to the water for a 2000m race. Both ID's teams were somewhat handicapped when the MV Handicap crossed the course causing both ID boats to come to a full stop mid-race. The teams shrugged off the handicap to come home in 1st and 5th place and are primed to take on the nations best at the 2009 National Titles at Kawana Waters, QLD

HaGs Take to the Water
Chloe and Izzy have lauched the HaGs (Hit and Giggle) crew and are scouting for paddlers. The HaGs crew is a great opportunity get out on the water and have a paddle without taking it too seriously, Paddlers that are new to the sport and are looking for a gentle introduction, others who may be recovering from an injury, or people who are interested in development opportunities like sweeping and coaching. If you'd like to try out dragon boating then get on board the HaGs boat

Ice Dragons Clean Sweep the 2009 ACT Championships
The team has capped off a solid years work and commitment with a clean sweep of the 200m & 500m Opens, Women's and Mixed titles at the Canberra Festival Regatta. Dragon boat fans were treated to an enthralling battle at the Black and White mixed teams engaged in a battle royale across the weekend. the Black team took out the 500m title on Saturday, but with steely determination the While team got up off the canvas and punched their way to a 200m mixed title on the Sunday

Flowing Festival in Jindabyne kicks off the trek to Nationals
The team packed up the cars and headed off to Jindabyne for the 2009 Flowing Festival Regatta. The mountains served up a perfect day for racing and the Black and White teams turned the event into a good old Rumble in the Mountains and duked it out all day. The White team and the Women's crew came away with the gold. Click here to check out the pics.

2009 China Four City Dragonboat Series News
The Ice Dragons are once again packing their kit and heading off to China for the Fice City Dragonboat Series. The team will be heading off late May to take on the a host of local and international teams. We'll keep you posted on the tour. Check out the pics from previous tours
